Weipa is a remote mining town on the Gulf of Carpentaria. Traveling from Loganholme requires reaching Cairns first, either by a 20-hour drive or a 2.5-hour flight. From Cairns, you can take a direct flight to Weipa Airport (WEI) or drive the Peninsula Developmental Road (PDR). The road journey is challenging and requires a 4WD vehicle, especially during the transition between seasons. Air travel is the most practical method for most visitors.
Total Distance: 2,500 km driving distance; 2,000 km air distance.
