Traveling from Kurrimine Beach to the mining hub of Weipa is a significant expedition into the heart of Cape York. You will head north through Cairns and Mareeba before joining the Peninsula Developmental Road (PDR). This route covers approximately 1,100 kilometers and requires a robust 4WD vehicle. The journey takes roughly 16 to 18 hours of driving time, often split over two days. You will traverse diverse terrain, including savannah woodlands and remote creek crossings.
